As a teacher, I am committed to alway being a learner. I love learning more, especially about topics that are important to me. It leads me to bring back my enthusiasm to the classroom. So, I applied for an NEH Teacher Summer Institute. The NEH, the National Endowment for the Humanities, is an organization dedicated to encouraging learning! From their website: "The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency created in 1965. It is one of the largest funders of humanities programs in the United States. Because democracy demands wisdom, NEH serves and strengthens our republic by promoting excellence in the humanities and conveying the lessons of history to all Americans." They basically provide money so that people can learn, which is pretty cool. So, I am staying in a dorm at Barnard and studying at the NY Historical Society. In my down time, I get to explore one of my favorite cities! (The best part is that the NEH is paying for all of this!!!!) Below are some photos of the institute so far. I'll describe some of these adventure in more detail soon!
