While I will be traveling to large cities (Bangalore and New Delhi) it is still important that I dress modestly. This means that my shoulders are covered (no tank tops even in the 100 degree heat!) and my knees are covered. Ms. Koszyk and I were lucky enough to go to Little India on Devon Street here in Chicago with a fellow teacher at Prosser, Ms. Matthew, who helped us select a traditional Indian outfit we could wear when traveling! The outfit I'm wearing is called a salwar. The salwar consists of a long tunic shirt, baggy pants, and a scarf for my head/shoulders. I also plan to bring a few more scarves for my head and shoulders, mostly to keep the sun off my shoulders, and some ankle-length skirts. |
