Tues. July 15th: Travel Day! The afternoon started for me with a quick 2 hour plane ride from Chicago to Washington D.C. where we met up with the others in the Teachers for a Global Classroom India cohort. 12 teachers (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) representing California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, Texas and Virginia led by Desiree our IREX (International Researched Exchanges Board) host. At 6pm Lufthansa Airlines took us across the Atlantic Ocean to Frankfurt, Germany (8 hour trip). And before you know it, it's already the next day!
Wed. July 16th: After sleeping on the Lufthansa trip we arrive in Frankfurt at 8am. I'm surprised there are no banners or signs expressing their World Cup winning status. It's a hazy morning at the Germany airport as we walk around to stretch, always hard for my 6'1" body to get comfortable in those small plane seats, and get to know everyone in our cohort (get a bunch of teacher together and we will always have something to talk about!) Lunch means using our first foreign currency: the Euro! After a 5 hour layover, it's time to depart for Bengalurua, India (8 hour, 40mn trip).
